Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the Mailzap Chrome Extension ("Extension", "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not install or use Mailzap.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User") and Mailzap ("we", "us", "our"). Mailzap is an open-source project developed and maintained by Mohit Alive.

These Terms apply to the Mailzap extension available on the Chrome Web Store and all browser-compatible builds (Chrome, Brave, Edge, Opera).

Description of Service

Mailzap is a browser extension that integrates with the Gmail API to help users manage their email inbox. The Extension provides the following core features:

  • Sender Analysis: Scans your Gmail inbox and identifies unique senders by email frequency.
  • Bulk Unsubscribe: Automates the unsubscribe process by parsing email headers and sending unsubscribe requests on your behalf.
  • Bulk Delete: Moves emails from selected senders to Gmail's Trash.
  • Block Sender: Creates Gmail filters to automatically trash future emails from selected senders.

All processing occurs locally within your browser. Mailzap has no backend infrastructure and does not transmit your email data to any external server.

Permitted Use

Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Mailzap for your personal, non-commercial email management purposes. You may:

  • Install and use the Extension on any supported Chromium-based browser.
  • Fork, modify, and redistribute the source code under the terms of the MIT License.
  • Use the Extension to manage emails within your own Google accounts for which you have legitimate access.

Prohibited Use

You agree not to use Mailzap to:

  • Access or manage Gmail accounts you are not authorized to access.
  • Perform automated bulk operations that intentionally circumvent Gmail's rate limits or terms of service in a manner that degrades service for other Gmail users.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code beyond what is already publicly available under the MIT License.
  • Use the Extension to send unsolicited emails, spam, or any communication that violates applicable laws (including CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CASL).
  • Redistribute a modified version of the Extension while misrepresenting it as the original Mailzap product.
  • Use the Extension for any unlawful purpose or in violation of Google's Terms of Service or the Google API Terms of Service.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Mailzap is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties including, but not limited to:

  • Fitness for a particular purpose — the Extension may not meet your specific requirements.
  • Accuracy — sender analytics and email counts are derived from the Gmail API and may not reflect real-time inbox state.
  • Uninterrupted operation — the Gmail API, Google OAuth, or your browser may experience downtime that prevents the Extension from functioning.
  • Unsubscribe success — automated unsubscribe attempts depend on third-party senders honoring the unsubscribe request; we cannot guarantee the outcome.

You acknowledge that deleting emails via Mailzap moves them to Gmail Trash, where they remain recoverable for 30 days. After that period, Gmail permanently deletes them. Use the Delete feature with care.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Mailzap and its developer(s) shall not be liable for any:

  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use or inability to use the Extension.
  • Loss of emails or data resulting from bulk delete or unsubscribe operations initiated by you.
  • Unauthorized access to your Gmail account resulting from your failure to secure your device or browser profile.
  • Third-party actions — including Gmail API changes, Google policy updates, or actions taken by senders in response to unsubscribe requests.

Our aggregate liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Extension in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. Since Mailzap is free, this amount is $0.

Google API Services

Mailzap's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

  • Gmail data is used only to provide and improve the inbox management features you explicitly request.
  • Gmail data is never used for advertising or sold to third parties.
  • Gmail data is not used to develop, train, or improve general-purpose AI or ML models.
  • Access to Gmail data is limited to what is necessary to provide the requested features.

By using Mailzap, you also agree to be bound by Google's Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

Termination

You may stop using Mailzap at any time by uninstalling the Extension from your browser. Uninstalling the Extension automatically removes all locally stored data including sender cache and OAuth tokens.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Extension (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

Sections covering Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, and Governing Law shall survive any termination of these Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or your use of Mailzap that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to binding arbitration or, where not permitted, to the courts of competent jurisdiction.

We encourage you to reach out directly before pursuing any formal dispute resolution — most issues can be resolved quickly and amicably.
